Additional Resources for Fraud Victims in the UK

If you are a victim of crypto-related fraud located in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or any of The British Overseas Territories, there are a number of resources available to help you:

National Cyber Fraud Reporting Services

After you have reported your case to your local law enforcement agency, you may also wish to report your case to one of the following organisations:

ActionFraud

National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)

Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

National Crime Agency (NCA)

National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB)

National Anti-Fraud Network (NAFN)

National Economic Crime Centre (NECC)

Fraud Prevention Services

Cifas is the UK’s leading fraud prevention community. Their members from both the public and private sectors work hard to monitor and maintain the largest fraud detection database in the country. Using their website, you can submit a data subject access request to request a copy of any information that Cifas holds about you or apply for a protective registration that will add an additional identity check to any product or service that tries to use your personal information.

The National Economic Crime Victim Care Unit (NECVCU) is a team of specialist advocates working with the London Police to support vulnerable people after they have fallen victim to fraud and cybercrime. Their service aims to help these victims feel safer and reduce the risk of them falling into secondary scams.

If you have information about a fraudulent scam or any other crime, you can contact Crimestoppers to report any details to the relevant authority anonymously.

Personal, Financial or Emotional Advice Services

The Citizens Advice Bureau is an invaluable resource that provides free support on a wide range of issues. Their service provides specific personal, financial or emotional advice and detailed information on what to do if you’ve been scammed.

Victim Support is a free and confidential advice service that is available to anyone in England, Wales or Scotland. Their service provides advice and support for victims of crime, regardless of how long ago the offence was committed or if it has already been reported to the police. You can contact them via telephone, live chat, Relay UK app, or even in British Sign Language.

If you're having a hard time emotionally and want to talk to someone, don't struggle in silence! You can get in touch with the Samaritans by visiting their website, calling their 24hr helpline, sending them an email or by texting ‘SHOUT’ to 84258

The UK Safer Internet Centre is a partnership between Childnet International, Internet Watch Foundation and South West Grid for Learning. It provides tailored resources aimed at keeping children and younger people safe online. Check out their guide to protecting yourself against common online scams.

If you are an elderly person, or you’re concerned about an older person falling victim to a scam, you can get specific, free and confidential advice from Age UK.
